11.6.2024 – John Bennett delivered season 2024 best result so far for KIC Motorsport – First points position is getting closer
Third racing weekend of Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series was driven in traditional Dutch Formula-1 circuit of Zandvoort. KIC Motorsport debytant driver, british John Bennett collect 16th position in Saturdays race which was driven in fierce and stormy weather conditions. Even in Sundays race he was forced to retire due technical issue, 16th position delivered faith for the team to accomplish points positions.
In qualifying Bennet collect P11 and showed that hard effort is rewarded. However as the first half of the rainy race was driven behind the safety car, the possibilities to collect points positions was switched 16th position in overall standings. KIC Motorsport Thai driver Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi spun when warming the tyres and therefore 26th position in Saturdays race as well as vietnamise Hoang Dat Sawerin P23 were not what the team had aimed for.
Second race was driven in dry conditions. John Bennett was forced to retire due technical difficulties. Sawer finished the race in P24 and Bhirombhakdi P25.
Flying Finn Tuukka Taponen won the Saturdays race after starting from P2. Pole position driver James Wharton spun in stormy conditions and therefore Taponen collect highest Championship points. In Sundays race Taponen took 6th highest Championship points and therefore he’s in P2 in overall standings after six races. Taponen is 56 points behind the leading driver and Sundays race winner, brazilian Rafael Camara.
Next two rounds are to be driven in 4th weekend of June in traditional Hungaroring Formula-1 circuit.
