16.7.2024 – KIC Motorsport Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi almost reached into points position in Mugello – Miserable race starts caused trouble for the team
Fifth round of Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series was driven in traditional italian circuit of Mugello. In Saturdays qualifying Finnish KIC Motorsport and its’ Thai driver Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi collect 8th starting position for the race which was a very promising result for the young and highly talented driver.
However in Saturdays as well as in Sundays race all three KIC Motorsport drivers, Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi, vietnamize Hoang Dat Sawer and chinese Yujia Gao had poor starts and dropped many positions behind. Therefore points positions were, once again, denied from the Finnish Racing team. In Saturdays 30 minute race Bhirombhakdi finished the event in 14th position and in Sunday he was forced to retire due technical problem. Sawer was 28th fastest in Saturday and 32th fastest in Sunday. Gao finished the events in 29th and 31th positions.
In a 5,2kms Italian circuit, which is owned by Ferrari, R-Ace GP team Finnish and Ferrari Academy driver Tuukka Taponen collect another victory in Saturday and in Sunday he was 4th fastest. However as Championship leader, brazilian Rafael Camara collect less points than Taponen, the Finn is in second position, just 29 points as there are Still 10 rounds to be driven. In Teams Championship series Van Amersfoort Racing was also able to reduce the gap for the leading team Prema Racing as well as Silver position team R-Ace GP.
Next two rounds are to be driven in third weekend of July in traditional French circuit of Paul Ricard, Le Castellet.
