22.8.2020 – Jüri Vips two times on Podium at Paul Ricard – Also Finns Patrik Pasma and Konsta Lappalainen into good points
The second racing weekend of FIA F3 Regional European Championship series was driven in French circuit of Paul Ricard at third weekend of August 2020. KIC Motorsport, which is run by professional Finnish motorsport people, secured two podium positions as its’ estonian Red Bull Junior Program driver Jüri Vips collect two bronze positions and one 4th highest Championship points. Teams’ other Finns Patrik Pasma secured one fifth and two times sixth highest points and Konsta Lappalainen were also able to improve his positions in overall standings, despite having brake problems.
In qualifying Jüri Vips drove 5,288kms circuit just 0,075 seconds slower than pole position driver Arthur LeClerc. Patrik Pasma was 0,331 seconds and Lappapainen 0,642 seconds slower. Due Vips excellent performance the expectations for each 30 minutes event were high. However two italian Prema PowerTeam drivers were again unbeatable in all three races.
– Despite an excellent preparations we weren’t able to match our speed for Arthur LeClerc who collect two victories and one second highest podium position and brazilian Gianluca Petecof who took one victory and two silver positions. Still our drivers made their best and it delivered two bronze podium positions for our estonian Jüri Vips. We have to be happy for that because also no-one other driver could not even challenge top-2 drivers in each three events, team manager Peter Flythström tells.
– Our otherdrivers Patrik Pasma suffered minor electrical problems and Konsta Lappalainen tackled with brake problems. However even they couldn’t challenge for podiums they collect many highly important Championship points as Pasma is our best driver in overall standings as he as collect points from all six driven rounds. Therefore as Pasma is in 4th and Vips in 5th position in overall standings, we enter Austrian circuit of Spielberg with high hopes, Flythström continues.
