8.8.2024 – KIC Motorsport driver Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi just two positions off from points in Imola – Ferrari Academy driver Maya Weug re-entered the series as KIC Motorsport driver
7th meeting of Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series was driven in traditional Italian racing circuit Imola at first weekend of September. Finnish KIC Motorsport entered the event with two drivers as thai Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi collect 12th position from both 30 minute events.
In current season Ferrari Academy driver Maya Weug competes in F1 Academy series and is in 5th position after eight rounds. Now he re-entered the Formula Regional by Alpine series as KIC Motorsport driver and collect P23 in Saturdays dry and 14th position in Sundays wet race.
The highly intense racing weekend was show of the series brazilian leader Rafael Camara and his Finnish Championship rival Tuukka Taponen. In qualifyings Camara collect two Pole Positions which were denied from Taponen just by few tenths of seconds. In Saturdays dry race Taponen was unable to challenge Camara who won the event. In Sundays wet race Taponen had an huge attack in first corner which eventually was led to a collision and retirement for Tuukka and Camara.
As there are still three meetings and six rounds to be driven, Camara is leading the series by 51 points. Next two rounds are to be driven in following weekend at Austrian circuit of Red Bull Ring.
