Three new rookie drivers in same pace throught whole first weekend of Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series – Crashes and many safety cars colored highly intense races

Finnish KIC Motorsport team started its’ fifth season in international Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series with three new rookie drivers. In first weekend of season 2023, which was driven in italian circuit of Imola, they collect decent results in very competitive racing series.

Ferrari Academy driver, spanish Maya Weug, swiss Shannon Lugassy and ukraine Oleksandr Partyshev gained lots of experience in their debut weekend which included two 30 minute events.

For Satudays’ race they entered outside top-20 positions. In start of the race Oleksandr Partyshev was hit by a fellow competitor and he was forced to retire in first corner. Weug and Lugassy finished the race in positions 20th and 21th.

For Sunday’s race they also entered in same qualifying positions. In a race of four safety cars they managed to avoid all drama and finished the event in decent positions. Weug was 16th, Partyshev 18th and Lugassy 20th fastest. In group of rookie drivers they collect positions 4 to 8.

In extremely high level of competition the norwegian rookie driver Martinius Stenshorne was immediately in top speed. After Saturdays victory he collect 2nd position in Sundays’ race and therefore is leading the series by eight points to dutch Kas Haverkort. Next round of the Formula Regional by Alpine European Championship series is to be driven in third weekend of May at iberian circuit of Barcelona.
