2.11.2020 – KIC Motorsport had a challenging weekend at Barcelona – Finnish F3-team is in 2nd position at Teams Championship standings
Sixth racing weekend of Formula Regional season 2020 was driven at the end of October in Circuit of Barcelona Catalunya. Finnish KIC Motorsport team Finnish drivers Patrick Pasma and Konsta Lappalainen were unable to reach similar positions they collect few weeks ago in italian circuit of Monza; Podiums were denied for the Finns and therefore hopes for medal positions in Drivers Championship series had a severe impact. In teams Championship standings KIC Motorsport continues in silver position as there are still two racing weekends to be driven.
In sunny Iberian conditions drivers faced three 30 minutes events. KIC Motorsport driver Patrik Pasma collect two 4th and one 8th position and Konsta Lappalainen were forced to satisfy to 6th, 10th and 8th positions. As very surprisingly french Pierre-Louis Chovet collect one victory and one bronze position and also rival Prema Powerteam drivers took other podium positions, Pasma is in 4th position in overall standings with gap of 70 points for bronze as there are still 125 Championship points to be driven. Konsta Lappalainen is in sixth position.
– Barcelona is one of the most difficult circuits to make passes and therefore qualifying results were pretty much the same as race results. Even so our drivers Patrik and Konsta were able to challenge our
fellow rivals. However due lack of passes we didn’t collect any podiums this weekend, team manager Peter Flythström tells.
– Still we’re very happy for the performance of our drivers. Even we didn’t secure any podiums we still were able to collect highly valuable points for KIC Motorsport team which helpt us to maintain silver position in Teams Championship series. In previous round which was driven at italian circuit of Monza we were a celebrated team. Now in Barcelona our rival Van Amersfoort Racing with its’ norwegian Dennis Hauger and french Pierre-Louis Chovet made strong performances which gives us a thrilling final two weekends, KIC Motorsport team owner Petri Lappalainen continues.
Italian Prema Powerteam danish driver Oliver Rasmunsen collect two victories in Barcelona which rised him to a battle for the series victory as series current leader, brazilian Gianluca Petecof and monacon Arthur LeClerc had not-so-good weekend. Winner of the series gets lots of points for Super Licence and gets a seat in Ferrari Junior Academy.
